Man wrestled to ground after threatening mum in attempted child abduction
Members of the public stepped in to wrestle a man to the ground after allegedly attempting to abduct a child in an Asda car park.
Police said a man approached a woman, 40, at around 11.30am on Sunday just after she had put her daughter in her car next to the supermarket in Walton, Liverpool.
He demanded her handbag and car keys but she refused. A ‘struggle’ is said to have followed, which is when witnesses saw that the man was holding a knife.
The man fled but was chased by members of the public who wrestled him to the floor. Officers attended and arrested a man who was taken a police station to be interviewed.
Police said a 41-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted child abduction and attempted robbery.
